If you are applying for a skilled visa, for example, a Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) visa or a points based skilled visa, you must be able to show that you have the skills required via either qualifications, work experience or a combination of both.
For a TSS Visa, you have two skills requirements. The first is set out in the ANZSCO document for your occupation. It sets out the indicative skill level required which is generally a range of qualifications. It also sometimes gives you alternative work experience options if you do not have a relevant qualification.
Also, for this visa, you are required to demonstrate that you have at least two years of relevant work experience. This can be amalgamated from part time and full-time work experience but must cover a period of two years. It can come from either Australia or overseas.
For the points based visa, your qualifications and work experience count towards the points and so it is important to calculate them correctly. Work experience has different points attributed to it based on whether you gained it in Australia or overseas.
